This is one of the most disturbing articles I've read lately, and that's saying something. I'm not sure how to prepare my children for a world that eats its young.
Sounds familiar. One of the things that annoys me so much about the recent generation of political leaders here is how determined they are to make young people pay for their education. Once upon a time, university education in the UK was free for those whose parents earned below a specific amount (I don't remember what the amount was). They began to lower that amount significantly in the nineties, and then began to phase the grants out in favour of loans. "But the interest rate is so low!" they insist. Yes, lovely. I was lucky. I finished university near the start of all of that, and got out with a fairly low level of debt, but kids starting nowadays are left with huge bills. The people putting them in that position all got their educations free of charge, though. Most of the current government don't even seem to understand what being in debt really is. They're living on one planet, and the electorate is living on another.
