"Aftermath Part 2"
This issue is somewhat misnamed. Aftermath Part 1 focused on the immediate fallout of AoX, but this issue focused my attention more on how these character have matured since they were first introduced. A more appropriate title would be "Where Bad Seeds Turn Good".

I was having a conversation about the meta in X-Men Legacy on Mike Carey's forum. Unfortunately that forum seems to be crippleware now, so I'm posting a synopsis here if anyone's interested.
A lot of questions were raised in this issue, most of them tangential to the actual plot.

I'm not satisfied with the voices, but I wanted to post this before it got Jossed on Wednesday.
I was obsessed with comics as a teen. There wasn't a lot going good with my life at that point, and my obsession kept me out of more trouble than it caused me. I was lucky to be reading comics in the 70s and the Golden Decade of the 80s, and I thought I would swim in comics for the rest of my life.
Then came the 90s. Greedy investors nearly destroyed the entire industry by trying to squeeze every last dime out, with no concern for quality. (Delete long rant. If you were around then, you've heard it already.) The only title I'm still reading is Girl Genius which I can read with my children. I read Fables for a while, but stopped when life got too hectic and it didn't feel right to read an R-rated comic in front of my kids when I didn't have a G or PG rated one to share with them. My last superhero title was Birds of Prey, which was still good when I stopped reading it, but too tied in to crossovers with other Bat-titles that I didn't care for.
But people tell me times have changed, and that there's good titles out there again, even in Marvel and DC. Much has been said of X-Factor, and of the PG-rated Young Avengers. My girls are 8 and 10 now. They're old enough for superhero comics, and I'd like to have something to share with them other than my 30-year old X-Men, New Mutants, and New Teen Titans collections. (Geez, it really has been 30 years....)
So, what would you folks recommend that's ongoing or that I've missed in recent years? I'm interested in any good, literate, character-driven title with a minimum of gore, but I'm especially looking for G and PG rated titles I can share with my children. (That's for "younger than teens" for the non-Americans. Think Sarah Jane Adventures and Doctor Who, but not Torchwood.) Any suggestions?
