Master Post

I'm making a flying visit to our house for the first time in 11 days.  There's private papers scattered all over the floor and other evidence of another break-in.

But  we finally talked to someone who was willing to put us on the trail of the more specialized lawyers.  And we got a video camera with a good audio pickup.

I'll update when I can.  Internet access is problematic when I'm away from the house.

Be careful while you're there. And good luck with the new developments. :)

Might I suggest that you start carrying a can of pepper spray wherever you go? Getting a tazer, if its legal where you are, wouldn't be a bad idea either, especially for when you have the kids with you.

And take pictures of anything you find in the house that isn't right.

*hugs*

Glad to know that you're out of the house. Bad to know that those bastards have continued breaking into your house and going after your personal information.

Hopefully, you've already taken steps to inform your credit cards and bank and the like about the potential for fraud. If you haven't, please do so -- let them know you're concerned about your information potentially having been stolen in a break-in and ask them to put out alerts and do whatever they can to help you prevent theft of your money or identity.

I've been reading all of this. The only issue I had was getting a virus on my computer by DLing the file to hear the phone conversation.

But I do say that she not go alone to the house, if she has to.. do not bring any kids. You might show up during a time they are still in the house... and could harm/kill you. Since you are alone, they could say it was self defense because your "depression" made you go crazy or something. Trust me, if they're going so low as to do everything they have done...they're likely to keep going lower.

If you can, get a storage unit and put every thing you own in there (and don't tell anyone about it) and clean the house good.. Its seems like they're likely to burn the house down with their mini meth lab or buy setting it on fire themselves.

eek!

Please don't go there alone and unarmed if at all possible. Even a can of obnoxious air freshener can stand in for mace, in a pinch (in Britain, some folks carry it because they can't get pepper spray - well, not legally).

And bring a witness with you, as well. One my life's aphorisms is "you never know when you'll need a friendly witness"

If they are breaking in for your files, you need to get them out of that house. Box up any and all paperwork, school records, tax records, insurance, all of it. Take it to a very secure storage unit (Uhaul is good) and keep it there. Then get any valuable or sentimental items out of the house. Clean it, scrub it, and then take pictures of your house every time you go there. Keep a log of them. Above all, BE SAFE. Get pepper spray. If you can't, make pouches of chili and pepper spice to throw at the eyes of anyone who attacks you. Get a small boot knife or carry a concealed weapon, if you are licensed. Go to the nearest large city (not a rinky dink town) and get you a good, junkyard dog lawyer. All this has been mentioned, and I am sure you are doing it and more. Good luck.
