Some people you simply shouldn't mess with.  Westboro Baptist Church decided to pick a fight with comic geeks by picketing the San Diego Comic-Con with their personal brand of hatred and embarrassing behavior for "worshiping false idols".   BIG MISTAKE.

Comic geeks picketing the WBC right back, outnumbering the WBC by at least 20 - 1.  They wore their cosplays getups and carried signs saying, "God Loves Gay Robin", "Odin is God", "Superman Loves Fags", "God Needs a Starship", as well as protest signs from several different comic book and sci/fi movie plotlines.  A monster held up a sign offering "Free Hugs", a pair of dominatrices offered "Free Spankings For Jesus", and Jesus himself gave the geeks his blessing.

Moral:  DON'T MESS WITH GEEKS, FOR THEY WILL MESS WITH YOU RIGHT BACK AND THEY ARE BETTER AT IT THAN YOU.

It's people like those that make me feel like I should be ashamed to call myself a Christain. They make us all look like wackjobs. :(

(I love Jeasus, but I love comicbooks and gays too)

That was a real stupid move on the churches parts and I'm glad the Geeks struck back.

It's not just the people, they're screwing over, but the whole point of the religion. This is exactly why I don't like to align myself with organised religion, that and me and mine have had our lives seriously screwed up by it.

Sabotashing themselves (and the rest of us) be being over zealous. :(

Still, I agree with you when you said: They chose to take on the MOST CREATIVE PEOPLE ON THE PLANET on their HOME TURF.

This has inspired me to want to fic, but Idon't know the situation I want all the kids to gather for. All I've got is that their parents are in trouble for doing their jobs and a bunch of religios zelots crash the court case.

Don't worry. The missing piece will come in its own good time.

Sucks doesn't it? :(

I hope so, I think it's a pretty good idea.

At the time, yes. Overall though it was a valuable learning experience in comparing words and deeds.

Organised religion is over rated. It's better to stay out of it, even if you believe the same things.

I still believe in Christ, but I don't go to Church, the message just gets screwed there.

no kidding. what happened to all the verses where the Bible said it'd be a great idea if we were all nice to each other?

Exactly. No-one's hurting anyone by loving comics or people of the same gender or any other types of things. It's people getting together to bond over things they love, no-one's bowing down at the feet of anyone and denouncing God. The sooner organised religion buts out of things unconcerning of them, the better place the world would be (but it's all gonna go to Hell anyway, End Days and all).

Mohandas Gandhi: "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.' This is my view of religion. Doesn't mean I'm going to tear people down because of things they love. The day comicbook start wars, maybe, just maybe then will I have a problem.
