Sometimes my soul seems like New England soil.  Every freeze and thaw brings up new shards of some deep buried monolith.

(Duh, I know Frost said it first.  Doesn't make the feeling any less intense.)

Frost may have said it first, but that's the first time I've heard it! I'm far from being an expert in psychology, but it does sound as though this state of affairs is quite healthy. Painful, probably, but a deep buried monolith that's working its way to the surface is surely a better thing than one that's determined to stay where it is?

At any rate, I wish you luck with it.

As appropriate for a New England poet, Frost was a master of repressed emotion.

Healthy but painful about sums it up. Last week a repressed chunk of pure kid-terror worked its way to the surface. That was no fun.
