Yeah, I'm sure you're right about the jewelry lady; I remember when I was studying accounting many years ago learning not only how to record deductions for "Good Will", but how to determine the *value* of Good Will to a business. I suspect contemporary businesspeople would regard the concept of Good Will with either amusement or contempt. (Social Darwinism, anyone?)
