Lucas' writing is an example to us all. Specifically, his early drafts for Star Wars should be shown to every child with the message, "If this steaming mound of utter rubbish, so wretched the very paper is trying to crawl out from under the words written on it, can be turned into a halfway decent script through the Mighty Power of Rewrites, then there's hope for anything you lot can come up with."

I loved the original series and spent most of 1977 and 1978 in a Star Wars-induced daze, but I'm not blind to it's faults. I hope I live long enough to see a competent writer remake it.
