One of the things I love about their relationship is that Jack does allow Ianto to be in charge. It shows great tact and consideration on his part.
Yes, that Jack, he's pretty smart sometimes. Jack is so much the Guy In Charge in most of his life, so it's striking that he follows Ianto's lead in their relationship. That was one of the things that was so delicious about the office scene in KKBB--the fact that Jack was *so* not the one with the power in that situation, and he knew it. And that Jack just did what Ianto said, no questions, no push-back, unlike his constant questioning and challenging of everything Gwen did throughout that episode. It also says a lot about how much Jack trusts Ianto on a fundamental level. It probably started with Jack feeling like he had to earn his way back into Ianto's regard and make it up to him for taking off, but it's staying that way because Jack needs to be able lean on someone who he knows is strong, meticulous and caring enough to hold him up and really have his back.
